COON RAPIDS, MN — July 27, 2025 — Coon Rapids residents are invited to the final installment of this year’s Summer in the City neighborhood meeting series, taking place on Tuesday, July 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Parkside Park (700 99th Ave. NW). The event was rescheduled from July 22 due to inclement weather.
The Summer in the City series is an annual initiative by the City of Coon Rapids designed to foster community engagement and strengthen ties between residents and municipal leaders. Held in neighborhood parks throughout the summer months, the events provide a relaxed and family-friendly environment where residents can meet with City Councilmembers, Police and Fire Department staff, and other municipal personnel to discuss local issues, upcoming projects, and community resources.
This year’s series included two earlier meetings:
Each gathering features interactive displays and informational booths from City departments on topics ranging from public safety and road improvements to recreation programming and environmental initiatives. Residents can explore fire trucks, police vehicles, and public works equipment up close — a perennial favorite for children and families alike.
In addition to the engaging displays and open conversations, free ice cream and bottled water will be available to all attendees.
“These events are about listening, sharing, and strengthening the bond between city government and the people we serve,” said Coon Rapids Mayor Jerry Koch in a previous statement about the program. “We’re proud to offer this opportunity each summer for residents to speak directly with those who help shape and serve our community.”
All Coon Rapids residents — including newcomers and long-time neighbors — are encouraged to attend, bring their questions, and enjoy an evening of connection and community under the summer sky.
