New Horizon Childcare Expands In Brooklyn Center

A business that provides childcare and early education in Brooklyn Center will soon be moving to another location within the city.

“It’s really exciting to us that we’re gonna be able to provide more space for children and have some different components that are kind of new to early childhood in that space as well too,” said Kami Thompson, a district manager with New Horizon Academy.

New Horizon Academy has rented space in a Brooklyn Center strip mall along Humboldt Avenue for many years.

The Brooklyn Center location serves about 70 children from as young as 6-weeks-old up to the age of 5.

New Horizon Academy’s new Brooklyn Center location will be in this former credit union at 7100 Brooklyn Boulevard.

However, company leaders say they’ve outgrown the current space, so they’ve purchased the former Electrus Federal Credit Union building along Brooklyn Boulevard to serve as their new home.

The new building will have more classrooms, extra playground space and additional room for teachers.

“There’s always some nostalgia with places that you’ve been in for a long time, but there’s the excitement of being able to provide a beautiful space for the teachers and the families and the children of Brooklyn Center,” said Thompson.

New Horizon Academy hopes to be in the new building by fall of next year.
