MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Café Racer Kitchen, a beloved community hub in Minneapolis’s Seward neighborhood, will once again open its doors for its monthly “Break Bread Free Lunch” on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CDT. The event, held at 2929 E 25th St., Minneapolis, MN 55406, is open to everyone — no questions asked and no purchase required.
Since launching the initiative in 2016, Café Racer has hosted the monthly free meal as a way to bring people together and reduce the uncertainty of where one’s next meal may come from. The restaurant describes the gathering as “a day where you don’t have to wonder where you can go or what to eat — it’s a simple gift.”

The Break Bread Free Lunch is open to the public, welcoming both local residents and visitors from beyond the neighborhood. Guests are encouraged to dine together in the restaurant or take their meals to go for themselves and their families.
The event is more than just a meal — it’s a space for togetherness, connection, and support. Café Racer emphasizes that “Togetherness. Community. Support. Food. Those are things that unite us all, and those are ways we hope to bring people together.”
While the meal is offered completely free of charge, donations are welcome to help sustain the program. Contributions can be made in person or through Café Racer’s secure online portal (Square donation link).
The Break Bread initiative is a cornerstone of Café Racer’s community engagement efforts. Beyond the monthly meal, the restaurant maintains a standing offer for anyone in need to request a no-charge “Break Bread meal” at any time during normal business hours.
Café Racer also contributes to the community through its work as a school lunch vendor for the Minnesota Department of Education, reinforcing its commitment to food accessibility and nourishment as public good.
The two-hour event has become a fixture in the Seward neighborhood’s calendar — a dependable, inclusive opportunity for anyone to share a meal in good company. As with previous months, food will be served until it’s gone, so guests are encouraged to arrive early.
Those attending are welcome to come alone or with friends, and to bring containers for take-home meals if preferred. Street and nearby lot parking are available around E 25th St.
Café Racer’s ongoing Break Bread program stands as a reminder that simple acts — like sharing a meal — can have lasting impacts on community connection, dignity, and care.
