CAMBRIDGE, Minn. — A pilot died Thursday when his small plane crashed near Cambridge Municipal Airport in Isanti County. The Beechcraft K35 Bonanza went down around 11:05 a.m., according to the Cambridge Police Department. Responders pronounced the pilot dead at the scene.
Flight tracking data indicates the aircraft had taken off from Anoka County–Blaine Airport and was en route to Cambridge when the crash occurred. The plane’s owner, a 41-year-old man from Shoreview, Minnesota, has not been confirmed as the pilot at the time of the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have taken over the investigation. The pilot’s identity is expected to be released by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
