BLAINE, Minn. — November 5, 2025 — Metro Transit and the City of Coon Rapids hosted a “Meet Metro micro” event Wednesday afternoon at the Northtown Transit Center in Blaine, introducing residents to the region’s new on-demand transit service.
The outreach event, held from 2–3 p.m., featured a Metro micro vehicle available for public tours, light refreshments, and staff from Metro Transit and the Metropolitan Council on hand to answer questions about how the new Blaine-area service works.
Located adjacent to Northtown Mall at 150 Northtown Drive NE, the Northtown Transit Center serves as a key hub in the north metro, providing indoor waiting areas and connections to several regular bus routes. The location gave residents an opportunity to learn firsthand how Metro micro integrates with existing transit options.

Metro micro is an app-based, shared, on-demand transit service designed to offer flexible, short trips within a designated service zone. Riders can request a pickup and drop-off anywhere within the Blaine zone through the Metro micro app or by calling Metro Transit directly.
The new service uses accessible minibuses and offers seamless transfers to and from regular Metro Transit routes and METRO lines — with transfers remaining free for a limited time under Metro Transit’s fare policy.
Metro Transit officials say the goal of Metro micro is to improve mobility and first-mile/last-mile connections for residents who may not live near fixed-route transit lines.
“Events like this help people experience Metro micro firsthand,” said Metro Transit staff at the event. “It’s a great way for riders to understand how easy it is to book a trip and connect to the broader Metro Transit system.”
