Today Is Special Election for House District 34B: Voting Information for Coon Rapids Residents

COON RAPIDS, MN — Voters in southern Coon Rapids will head to the polls next week to decide the outcome of the special election for Minnesota House District 34B, a race triggered by the vacancy left following the passing of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman.

The contest features two candidates: Xp Lee (Democratic–Farmer–Labor) and Ruth Bittner (Republican).

Absentee and Early Voting

Eligible voters in precincts 5-4 and 5-5 can cast an absentee ballot in person at Coon Rapids City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433.

  • Saturday, Sept. 13 — 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 15 — 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (final day for in-person absentee voting)

These extended hours supplement City Hall’s regular absentee voting schedule.

General Election Day

The general election will take place Tuesday, Sept. 16, with polls open across the district from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  • Precinct 5-4 voters will cast ballots at the YMCA.
  • Precinct 5-5 voters will vote at Adams Elementary School.
