COON RAPIDS, MN — Voters in southern Coon Rapids will head to the polls next week to decide the outcome of the special election for Minnesota House District 34B, a race triggered by the vacancy left following the passing of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman.
The contest features two candidates: Xp Lee (Democratic–Farmer–Labor) and Ruth Bittner (Republican).
Eligible voters in precincts 5-4 and 5-5 can cast an absentee ballot in person at Coon Rapids City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433.
These extended hours supplement City Hall’s regular absentee voting schedule.
The general election will take place Tuesday, Sept. 16, with polls open across the district from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Residents can confirm their voter registration status, precinct, and polling place by visiting the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Pollfinder at pollfinder.sos.mn.gov.
The official election calendar for House District 34B is also available at the Secretary of State’s website: sos.mn.gov/election-administration-campaigns/elections-calendar/house-district-34b-special-election.
