COON RAPIDS, Minn. — October 2, 2025 — Motorists in Coon Rapids will see some welcome relief tonight as two ramps closed for the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Highway 10 third-lane project reopen earlier than expected.
City officials announced Friday that the ramp from westbound Highway 10 to Round Lake Boulevard and the Main Street ramp to westbound Highway 10—both originally scheduled to reopen next week—are now on track to open tonight. The update comes as part of MnDOT’s ongoing effort to add a third through-lane in each direction between Round Lake Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard, a major project aimed at reducing congestion and improving safety.
While the two ramps reopen, several others remain closed in the project area. Drivers should continue to plan for detours around the following closures:
MnDOT, in partnership with Anoka County and the City of Coon Rapids, is leading the multi-year Highway 10 improvement project. In addition to widening the corridor, the work includes resurfacing, new lighting, and other upgrades to improve traffic flow and safety.
Motorists are advised to watch for changing traffic patterns as ramps reopen and closures shift. Updated detour routes, maps, and project details are available on MnDOT’s official Highway 10 Coon Rapids project page.
