MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Agape Oasis, a North Minneapolis–based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families and restoring communities is hosting its 6th Annual Awareness Walk on Saturday, October 4, 2025, uniting community members in a visible stand against domestic violence, bullying, and breast cancer.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Upper River West Parkway (1708 West River Road N, Minneapolis), with participants setting off on a 1.5-mile walk along the scenic riverfront. Under the banner theme “Lace Up. Speak Up. Show Up.”, the walk aimed to empower attendees to “shatter the silence” surrounding these pressing social issues while fostering hope, awareness, and action throughout the Twin Cities.
Agape Oasis’ annual Awareness Walk has grown into a cornerstone of community engagement in North Minneapolis. The fundraiser supports the organization’s five core programming pillars: Early Childhood Education, Parent/Youth Empowerment, Community Engagement, Crisis Support, and Healing-Centered Training.
Funds raised help sustain vital services such as the Oasis of Love Crisis Intervention Center, which provides restorative programs for men, women, and children affected by domestic and community violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Through these initiatives, Agape Oasis continues its 39-year mission of promoting safety, healing, and family stability.
In addition to the walk, this year’s event features a community resource fair with local partners offering information on mental health, family resources, and survivor advocacy. Attendees participated in healing-centered activities, storytelling sessions, and family-friendly experiences designed to foster resilience and unity.
Community organizations—including those focusing on youth development, victim advocacy, and healthcare—joins Agape Oasis to reinforce a message of shared responsibility in preventing violence and uplifting survivors.
Agape Oasis highlights alarming statistics that frame the ongoing urgency of its mission:
By combining public engagement, education, and direct support, Agape Oasis aims to create a ripple effect of awareness and prevention across the Twin Cities.
October marks Domestic Violence and Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, as well as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, giving the walk added resonance. Organizers emphasized that advocacy does not end with the event—it begins there.
“Every step taken today represents a voice raised for someone who can’t,” an Agape Oasis organizer shared during the event. “We walk not just for awareness, but for change.”
