SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. — Neighbors, Inc., the long-standing nonprofit serving northern Dakota County, has announced a special series of evening food distribution events this December to help community members facing food insecurity during the holiday season.
The “Neighbors Nook” program will hold extended distribution sessions on Tuesdays, Dec. 3, 10, 17, and 31, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the organization’s headquarters at 222 Grand Avenue West, South St. Paul. These events are in addition to the Nook’s regular schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m., and the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
Expanded Access for the Holidays

The December evening sessions aim to provide greater flexibility for families and individuals who cannot attend during the daytime hours. Residents should note there will be no distribution on Tuesday, Dec. 24, in observance of Christmas Eve.
No Appointments Necessary
Neighbors Nook operates on a low-barrier, “choice” food shelf model, allowing clients to select the items they need without prior appointments. Attendees are asked to provide basic information such as name, household size, and self-attestation of need, but no documentation is generally required.
Visitors can expect access to a variety of foods, including fresh produce, dairy, meat, and pantry staples, with volunteers and staff available to assist. Food is typically weighed upon exit to ensure equitable distribution.
