MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Coon Rapids to Open Four Renovated Homes During Annual Remodeling Tour
COON RAPIDS, MN (May 7, 2026) The City of Coon Rapids will host its annual Home Remodeling Tour on Sunday, May 17, from noon to 4 p.m., giving residents an opportunity to tour four renovated homes completed through the city’s Home for Generations program.
The event is free to the public and will operate as a self-guided open house showcasing residential remodeling projects across the city. According to the City of Coon Rapids, the annual tour is intended to provide homeowners with practical renovation ideas while highlighting local reinvestment in the city’s aging housing stock.
This year’s featured projects include:
• 10125 Magnolia Street NW, a comprehensive interior remodel
• 11425 Magnolia Street NW, a kitchen renovation and main-floor update
• 11178 Bluebird Circle NW, a kitchen and bathroom remodel
• 2725 109th Lane NW, a finished basement project that added a family room, bedroom, and bathroom
City officials say the featured homes represent a range of renovation types and budgets, allowing visitors to view completed projects firsthand and speak directly with homeowners about the design and construction process.
The remodeling tour is connected to the city’s Home for Generations program, a housing reinvestment initiative created to encourage long-term modernization of older homes in Coon Rapids. Many homes throughout the city were built during periods of suburban expansion several decades ago, and local officials have increasingly focused on maintaining housing quality and neighborhood stability through renovation incentives.
Under the program, qualifying homeowners may receive professional design assistance, permit rebates, grants, and financing support tied to eligible remodeling projects.
The city offers architectural consultations that allow residents to meet with a professional architect to discuss renovation concepts and preliminary planning. Homeowners investing at least $35,000 in qualifying interior and exterior improvements may also be eligible for financial incentives, including grants, low-interest loan opportunities, and partial building permit rebates.
Eligible projects generally include kitchen and bathroom renovations, additions, basement finishing, garage improvements, porch construction, accessibility modifications, and major interior reconfigurations.
According to city materials, the program is intended to help residents adapt older homes to changing household needs while supporting property values and long-term neighborhood preservation.
Coon Rapids officials say the annual tour also provides residents with an opportunity to evaluate contractor workmanship, compare remodeling approaches, and gather ideas for future home improvement projects.
Detailed maps, project descriptions, and additional information about the Home Remodeling Tour and the Home for Generations program are available through the City of Coon Rapids website.
