COON RAPIDS, MN (July 8, 2026) Following a brief pause for the Independence Day holiday, the City of Coon Rapids' annual Summer Concert Series returns Thursday evening with a free performance by Minnesota rock-and-roll trio The Holy Rocka Rollaz, continuing one of the city's most popular summer traditions at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the park's outdoor performance pavilion, located at 9750 Egret Blvd. NW. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of live music overlooking the Mississippi River.

Admission is free, and Anoka County Parks is once again waiving the park's standard vehicle entrance fee for concertgoers. The concert series is presented through a partnership between the City of Coon Rapids, the Coon Rapids Arts Commission, Anoka County Parks, and the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation. The annual program is designed to provide free, family-friendly entertainment while showcasing a diverse lineup of regional musical talent.

Thursday's featured performers, The Holy Rocka Rollaz, are known throughout the Upper Midwest for recreating the energy and sound of early rock and roll. The Minneapolis-area trio performs classics from the 1950s and early 1960s, featuring music made famous by artists including Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, and other pioneers who helped define the genre. Their energetic performances have made them a regular attraction at festivals, community celebrations, and performing arts venues throughout Minnesota.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early. Concessions will be available from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., with food and refreshments offered by the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club and Boy Scout Troop 524. Sales serve as fundraisers supporting the organizations' local community service and youth development initiatives.

City officials have also provided several reminders for attendees. Shuttle transportation between the visitor center and the performance pavilion will not be available this season. However, a designated drop-off and pick-up area adjacent to the pavilion is available to improve accessibility for guests with mobility needs. Should severe weather develop, cancellation announcements and event updates will be posted through the City of Coon Rapids' official social media channels.

The Summer Concert Series is organized by the volunteer members of the Coon Rapids Arts Commission with financial support from the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation, a local nonprofit organization that invests in community programs, public art, parks, and civic initiatives. Over the years, the weekly concerts have become a seasonal gathering place where families, neighbors, and visitors can enjoy free outdoor entertainment in one of the city's most scenic settings.

Thursday's performance marks the midpoint of the 2026 concert season. The remaining schedule includes LP & the 45's on July 16, Red Letter Band on July 23, The New Riverside Ramblers on July 30, and Revolution 5, a Beatles tribute band, on Aug. 6. Each concert begins at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.

City officials encourage residents to take advantage of the remaining concerts as the annual series continues bringing live music, community engagement, and summer recreation to the banks of the Mississippi River.
