MINNEAPOLIMEDIA TRAFFIC ALERT | Northbound Highway 77 Closure Continues Through Monday Morning in Eagan
EAGAN, MN (July 12, 2026) Northbound Highway 77 remains closed between Interstate 35E and the Minnesota River as construction crews continue weekend work in Eagan.
The closure includes all northbound ramps within the affected area and is scheduled to remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday, July 13.
Drivers traveling toward Minneapolis, Bloomington, Richfield, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, or other destinations north of the Minnesota River should plan for delays and use the posted detour.
Detour Route
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is directing affected motorists to use:
- Southbound Highway 77
- Northbound Interstate 35E
- Westbound Interstate 494
- Highway 77
Drivers should follow posted construction signs because traffic conditions and ramp access may differ from the routes suggested by navigation applications.
The detour may add significant time, particularly during periods of heavy weekend traffic.
All Ramps in Work Area Closed
The northbound Highway 77 ramps connecting with northbound and southbound Highway 13 are included in the closure.
Motorists should not assume they can enter or leave Highway 77 within the construction zone.
Travelers heading to the airport should allow additional time. The closure could also affect visitors traveling between Eagan, Apple Valley, Burnsville, Bloomington, and Minneapolis.
Work-Zone Safety
Drivers approaching the closure should reduce speed, avoid sudden lane changes, and watch for construction workers and equipment.
Congestion may extend beyond the immediate work zone as vehicles merge onto the detour.
Minnesota law requires motorists to obey work-zone traffic controls. Drivers should remain attentive and avoid using mobile devices while navigating unfamiliar routes.
Reopening Scheduled Monday
MnDOT expects northbound Highway 77 and the affected ramps to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.
The schedule remains dependent on weather, construction progress, and field conditions. A delay could extend the closure into the Monday morning travel period.
Drivers should check Minnesota 511 before leaving home for real-time road and closure information.
Official project information is available through MnDOT’s Highway 77 closure notice.
