MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Search Continues for Man Missing in Mississippi River Near Hidden Falls Park
ST. PAUL, MN (August 3, 2026). Authorities continued searching Sunday for a man who disappeared in the Mississippi River near Hidden Falls Regional Park in St. Paul.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol Unit responded shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of Mississippi River Boulevard South after receiving a report that a man was missing in the river.
Rescue crews searched the area near Hidden Falls Park but did not locate him before operations ended for the night.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources joined Ramsey County Water Patrol crews when the search resumed Sunday.
Authorities described the continuing effort as a search and recovery operation. They had not publicly identified the missing man or disclosed whether he was visiting the park alone.
Investigators also had not released an official account explaining how the man entered the river or what circumstances preceded his disappearance.
The stretch of the Mississippi River near Hidden Falls can present hazards including strong currents, changing depths, submerged objects and boat traffic.
Search operations on large rivers may involve boats, sonar equipment, underwater cameras, shoreline searches and divers when conditions permit. Visibility, current speed and underwater debris can affect where and how crews search.
Hidden Falls Regional Park is located along Mississippi River Boulevard in St. Paul, south of downtown and across the river from Fort Snelling.
Authorities did not announce whether any portions of the park, boat launch or surrounding river were closed during the operation.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office had not reported finding the man as of the latest available update Sunday.
KSTP reported that the Minnesota DNR joined the Water Patrol in the continuing search.
