MINNEAPOLIS — Ten people were forced out of their homes Saturday morning when a fire raged through a Minneapolis apartment building, injuring an emergency responder.
Around 9:40 a.m., officials said fire crews got a report of smoke and fire coming from an apartment building located at 1618 Glenwood Avenue.
When firefighters arrived at the 3-story building, they saw fire on the second level. Crews lay lines and were able to put out the fire.
A man was assisted out of the building but didn't need further medical attention. A dog was sheltered in place but not hurt, according to officials.
While on scene, a firefighter was taken to a local hospital after they injured their ankle and knee in a fall. Their current condition is unknown.
After the fire was put out, the building was deemed uninhabitable, leaving 10 people without shelter. The Red Cross was called to assist them.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
