Coon Rapids 2025 Street Reconstruction Project 25-1: Weekend Work Scheduled, Progress Continues Across Three Neighborhoods

COON RAPIDS, MN – July 13, 2025 — The City of Coon Rapids’ 2025 Street Reconstruction Project 25-1 continues this month with ongoing progress in three residential neighborhoods: Oaks of Shenandoah, Thousand Oaks, and Thrush Park. In total, the project encompasses the full reconstruction of approximately 3.9 miles of local streets.

Project Scope and Neighborhood Breakdown:

  • Oaks of Shenandoah (Area 1 – Green on Map): Located north of 131st Avenue between Coon Creek Boulevard and Shenandoah Boulevard.
  • Thousand Oaks (Area 3 – Blue on Map): Situated south of Main Street and west of Olive Street.
  • Thrush Park (Area 2 – Red on Map): Located south of Main Street and generally west of Shenandoah Boulevard.

Latest Project Updates:

Oaks of Shenandoah (Area 1):

The installation of the final wear course pavement has been postponed until late summer. This delay allows residents additional time to coordinate with their private driveway contractors for any necessary driveway replacement work. In the meantime, residents may resume use of their irrigation systems. Any related concerns should be directed to the City.

Thrush Park (Area 2):

Construction crews will be active this Saturday, July 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., performing gravel base grading in preparation for paving. Looking ahead, weather permitting, the first layer of asphalt pavement is tentatively scheduled to be placed on July 17 and 18. Residents should plan for potential traffic delays and increased construction noise during this period.

Thousand Oaks (Area 3):

Utility work is underway, with crews focusing on watermain replacements and the installation of storm sewer catch basins. This essential infrastructure work will continue throughout the week.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official city updates and to contact the City or project representatives with any questions or concerns.
