Police: Postal Worker Shoots Colleague In St. Paul Post Office

Officers arrested the 28-year-old suspect during a traffic stop.

A St. Paul post office employee shot a coworker on Sunday afternoon, according to police, and the victim has been identified.

The shooting was reported at the U.S. Post Office at 1715 West 7th Street around 3:30 p.m., with officers arriving to find postal worker Roy Varghese, 50, of Eagan, suffering from multiple gunshot injuries.

St. Paul Fire medics arrived at the scene and took Varghese to Regions Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown at this time.

The suspected shooter, one of Varghese's coworkers, had fled the scene but was found by officers around 4:50 p.m. in the area of West 7th Street and Madison Street.

The 28-year-old was taken into custody during a traffic stop, and he is currently booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.
