Anoka Seeks Safe Routes To School Funding
The state of Minnesota has $9 million to give away in the name of making routes to school safer, and Anoka wants in on it. The city council directed staff on Oct. 7 to start pursuing $310,000 in grant funds to improve pedestrian safety around Wilson Elementary.
“The perfect candidate would be the Wilson school area, which we had proposed last year,” Community Development Director Doug Borglund said. “It would include sidewalks on the north side to make the connection. After some looking at the campus and operations, we were looking at installing a sidewalk on the south side, as well, for parent pick up and drop off.”
