In a move aimed at boosting the local economy and supporting the aviation industry, Senator Grant Hauschild has introduced a new piece of legislation that targets workforce recruitment for Cirrus Aircraft. The bill, SF 519, was presented on Wednesday to the Senate Tax Committee and features a trio of tax credits designed to attract and retain talent in the aerospace sector, according to a statement released by the Senate DFL.
“Our region is the headquarters of one of the best aviation companies in the world, Cirrus Aircraft,” said Hauschild. With the need to maintain a skilled workforce for the production of high-ranking personal aviation planes, Hauschild believes that these measures will not only stimulate but also keep Minnesota at the forefront of the aviation industry.
The legislative proposal creates an Employee Credit, an Employer Tuition Credit, and an Employer Compensation Credit. These initiatives are particularly aimed at assisting recent graduates from fields related to aerospace and aviation, while also giving Minnesota-based companies a helping hand in attracting new employees.
Hauschild's bill is yet to be firmly anchored into legislation, as it has been laid over for potential inclusion in a larger Omnibus Tax Bill. The bill's supporters are optimistic that these tax incentives can serve as a bulwark to maintain the state's reputation for aviation excellence and encourage skilled workers to build their lives and careers in Minnesota.
