People in the west metro looking for a place to seek urgent care will soon have another option later this summer.
Work is underway in Golden Valley on The Urgency Room. The company is renovating a building located at 6100 Golden Hills Drive.
Once it’s up and running this August (there’s a projected opening date of Aug. 18), the clinic will be staffed by emergency room physicians, nurses and skilled staff who are equipped to handle almost any injury or illness.
This will be The Urgency Room’s fourth location. It also has clinics in Vadnais Heights, Eagan and Woodbury, but the first in the west metro.
The medical director of the company expects the new Golden Valley location to be the busiest of the four.
“Our projections are this could be upwards of 50,000-52,000 [patients] in very short order,” said Dr. Craig Matticks, The Urgency Room’s medical director. “It depends on the community’s appetite and what kind of service we deliver, and I think it’s an enticing prospect for patients who haven’t had an alternative.”
Unlike a standard ER, The Urgency Room is an outpatient facility with no inpatient or overnight rooms. Patients can also book appointments or schedule telehealth visit.
