The Anoka County Veterans Council has issued an open invitation for the public to attend their Memorial Day services on Saturday, May 24, as part of a longstanding tradition of honoring the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces.
The event is detailed in an announcement on the county's website.
The commemorative events are slated to begin at 10 a.m. at the Field of Honor within Morningside Memorial Gardens, located at 11800 University Ave.

NW, Coon Rapids, where individuals can gather in solemn remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, the solemnity is expected to be palpable amongst attendees.
Following the initial ceremony, a second service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Bunker Hills Activity Center at 550 Bunker Blvd in Andover, attendees are advised to identify themselves to council chaplain Doug Sturgill upon arrival.
In a gesture of community and family inclusion, the Anoka County Veterans Council has arranged for a family picnic to take place at the Bunker Hills Activity Center after the ceremony, offering an opportunity for fellowship and reflection among those present.
According to the information available on Anoka County’s official announcement, this gesture of hospitality is made possible thanks to the collective efforts of various veterans' organizations.
Several veterans groups including Veteran of Foreign Wars posts and Auxiliaries, American Legion posts and Auxiliaries; Military Order of the Cooties and 40/8; Military Order of the Purple Heart; chapters representing Vietnam veterans; Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliaries; and contingents of Desert Storm, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan veterans are hosting and furnishing the services and picnic, their collaborative efforts symbolize not only a shared heritage of service but also a continued commitment to community engagement and support.
