A new pharmacy fulfillment center is bringing nearly 200 jobs to Brooklyn Park.
Walgreens will open a so-called micro-fulfillment center at 10695 Winnetka Ave. N., near the border with Champlin.
It will use robotic technology to process prescriptions. The company expects 13 million prescriptions to be processed at the facility each year for 200 Walgreens stores.

“Walgreens’ investment in micro-fulfillment centers is another strategic step toward a brighter future for community pharmacy,” said Rick Gates, Walgreens chief pharmacy officer. “Research shows that Americans want more health services at their local pharmacy, and micro-fulfillment centers help us meet those needs by allowing our pharmacists do what they do best: spend more time with patients.”
It is one of 12 micro-fulfillment facilities Walgreens has built nationwide.
Last year, the company announced plans to close about 1,200 of its stores over three years.
Walgreens closed its Crystal location this winter.
