PROVINS, France & COON RAPIDS, Minn. – June 3, 2025 – In a significant move aimed at accelerating electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure deployment and bolstering its commitment to carbon emission reduction, Groupe Saint-Léonard (GSL), a prominent French provider of concrete precast products, today announced a strategic partnership with The Precast Forte Group. This collaboration will see the Saint-Léonard Matériaux (SLM) division of GSL adding The Precast Forte Group's innovative EV Blocks to its product portfolio for the French market.
EV Blocks are precast concrete foundations designed specifically for electric vehicle charging points. This universal, ready-to-install solution features a universal top plate and strategic side openings for conduit installation, offering a faster, more reliable, and simpler alternative to traditional pour-in-place concrete foundations. The Precast Forte Group, based in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, currently licenses EV Blocks and other precast products across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
Romain Collignon, Director of SLM, views the integration of EV Blocks as a pivotal component of GSL's strategy to meet the burgeoning demand for EV charging points in France, which are projected to triple. This aligns directly with France's national decarbonization goals, including the ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
"With the surge in demand for EV charging infrastructure, there's a major opportunity to provide the foundational elements that support that growth," stated Collignon. "It seems that the timing to introduce this product is right."
Precast concrete products are already recognized in France for their efficiency in both resource use and labor, a factor endorsed by the International Federation for Structural Concrete. The adoption of EV Blocks by GSL underscores this commitment to efficient and sustainable construction practices.
Mike Klotthor, President of The Precast Forte Group, expressed enthusiasm for the new partnership. "The Forte team continues to see strong global interest in the EV Blocks line," said Klotthor. "France's commitment to net-zero and its embrace of the benefits of precast construction signals a strong market fit. We're excited to support Romain and the GSL team as they introduce this efficient, sustainable solution to French contractors."
This marks Groupe Saint-Léonard's first international licensing partnership, although GSL currently licenses other products. The Precast Forte Group will provide comprehensive support for the rollout of EV Blocks in France, including localized marketing, an online presence, and translated technical and installation documentation.
The collaboration highlights a growing trend in the construction and infrastructure sectors to adopt prefabricated and modular solutions to expedite critical infrastructure projects, particularly those related to the energy transition and the expansion of electric mobility. EV Blocks offer significant benefits by reducing on-site labor, minimizing weather-related delays, and ensuring consistent quality, ultimately leading to improved project margins for contractors.
