Coon Rapids Prepares For Spectacular 4th Of July Celebration, July 2-4

Coon Rapids, MN – June 7, 2025 – Coon Rapids is gearing up for its highly anticipated 4th of July Celebration, a three-day extravaganza promising family-friendly fun and culminating in what's been lauded as one of Minnesota's top fireworks displays. Festivities will take place from Wednesday, July 2, through Friday, July 4, at Boulevard Plaza, located at 11002 Crooked Lake Boulevard.

The annual celebration, organized by the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club, Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation, and Coon Rapids Fire Department Social Club, is designed to offer activities for all ages.




Event Highlights Across Three Days:

Wednesday, July 2: The celebration kicks off with the Carnival Midway and a variety of Food Trucks, Lions Tent, and Pull Tabs from noon to 10 p.m. Attendees can test their luck at Firefighter Bingo from 4-5:30 p.m. and again from 7:30-9 p.m. A special Coon Rapids High School All Class Reunion is slated from 5-10 p.m. under the big tent, inviting Cardinal alumni to gather and reminisce.

The day's highlight will be the Community Parade, stepping off at 6 p.m. The parade route will begin at 111th Avenue and Mississippi Boulevard, proceeding south, then turning east onto Direct River Drive, and finally north on Flora Street to conclude at 109th Lane. For those unable to attend in person, the parade will be broadcast live on CTN Channel 859 (Xfinity) and YouTube. Live music for the evening will feature Vitamin J from 6:30-10 p.m., with a special Rocky Meet & Greet from 7-8 p.m., offering free games and prizes.

Thursday, July 3: The Carnival Midway, Food Trucks, Lions Tent, and Pull Tabs continue from noon to 10 p.m. Firefighter Bingo will be available from 4-9 p.m. Evening events include the Coon Rapids Police Association Bags Tournament at 5 p.m. ($60/team, cash prizes, proceeds benefit Shop with a Cop) and a Car Show from 5-11 p.m. ($5 gate fee, first 100 cars receive a T-shirt, proceeds benefit ACBC Food Shelf). Live music for the evening will be provided by Arena from 6:30-10 p.m.

Friday, July 4: Grand Finale and Fireworks Independence Day begins with active events, including the Firecracker 5K at 8 a.m. (registration fees vary by date, day-of registration is $55) and a free Kids Sparkler Dash at 9:15 a.m. The Carnival Midway will operate from noon, closing promptly at 7:30 p.m. on the 4th. Food Trucks, Lions Tent, and Pull Tabs will be available until 10 p.m. A Public Safety Meet & Greet is scheduled from 2-4 p.m., and Firefighter Bingo runs from 2-9 p.m. The evening's live music will feature Rockin' Hollywoods from 6:30-10 p.m.

The grand finale, the much-anticipated fireworks display, will light up the sky at 10 p.m. The fireworks can be viewed from the grounds of the Coon Rapids Ice Center (11000 Crooked Lake Boulevard) and Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Visitors are advised to arrive early due to anticipated large crowds and to be patient during departure.

The Coon Rapids 4th of July fireworks display has consistently been recognized as a "Top Fireworks Show in Minnesota," drawing visitors from across the region for its impressive pyrotechnics.
