COON RAPIDS, MN – June 28, 2025 – After eight years of serving the Coon Rapids community with craft beers and a welcoming taproom, Alloy Brewing Company has announced its permanent closure in mid-July. The brewery shared the difficult news via a social media post, attributing the decision to a combination of rising costs, supply chain hurdles, and a significant decrease in sales over the past three years.
"This is not a message we ever wanted to have to share," the company stated in its announcement. "Alloy Brewing Company will be closing our doors permanently as of a to-be-determined date in mid-July. This decision comes after a lot of thought and considerable effort to navigate the challenges of today's economic climate."
The closure coincides with the expiration of the brewery's lease for its location at 2700 Coon Rapids Blvd NW. Alloy Brewing Company was one of the pioneering craft breweries in the north metro area, opening its doors in 2017 in a repurposed former mechanics garage. Its unique setting, with eight garage doors that could be opened on warm days, provided an airy and inviting atmosphere for patrons.
The owners expressed deep gratitude to their staff, loyal customers, and the community for their unwavering support throughout the years. "The friendships and memories we've made over the years will always remain the most meaningful part of our journey," they wrote.
Alloy Brewing Company's closure reflects a broader trend within the craft beer industry, where many small businesses are grappling with increased operational expenses and shifts in consumer spending habits. Recent reports indicate a nationwide decline in the overall number of operating craft breweries, with more closures than openings in the past year.
While a specific closing date in mid-July has yet to be finalized, Alloy Brewing Company plans to host a farewell party to celebrate its eight-year run and allow patrons to enjoy one last pint. Further details regarding the exact closure date and the farewell event are expected to be announced soon on their social media channels and website.
In the meantime, the brewery has ceased selling gift cards and is limiting loyalty program redemptions. They are also adjusting policies on growler fills and other discounts as they prepare for their final weeks of operation. The news has been met with a wave of bittersweet comments from devoted customers, reminiscing about their favorite memories at the Coon Rapids establishment.
