BLAINE, MN (September 8, 2026). Blaine police recorded 5,387 calls for service in August, responding to incidents ranging from medical emergencies and vehicle crashes to burglaries, disorderly conduct and suspected impaired driving, according to the department's latest monthly activity report.

The Blaine Police Department's August "Blaine by the Numbers" report shows officers conducted 1,447 traffic stops during the month, the largest of the individual categories highlighted in the department's monthly summary.

Police also recorded 471 medical calls and responded to 210 vehicle crashes. The department reported 85 arrests and 29 DUI incidents during August.

Other activity included 118 disorderly conduct calls, 98 animal-related calls and 10 burglaries.

The figures offer a monthly snapshot of the volume and variety of calls handled by police in Blaine, a growing North Metro community in Anoka County. The 5,387 total works out to an average of about 174 calls for service per day during the 31-day month.

Traffic activity represented a substantial portion of the incidents specifically highlighted by the department. The 1,447 traffic stops averaged nearly 47 per day, while officers responded to an average of nearly seven vehicle crashes per day.

Medical assistance also accounted for a significant share of the department's activity, averaging more than 15 calls per day during August. Those calls illustrate a part of police work that extends beyond criminal enforcement, with officers frequently among the public-safety personnel responding to medical emergencies and other calls for assistance.

The 85 arrests reported for August averaged fewer than three per day. The department's monthly summary does not specify the offenses associated with those arrests, and an arrest should not be interpreted as a finding of guilt.

Similarly, the 29 DUI incidents identified in the report reflect calls classified by the department in that category and should not automatically be interpreted as 29 convictions. Criminal charges and convictions are determined through subsequent investigative and court proceedings.

The 10 burglaries were among the least numerous categories highlighted in the August report. The monthly summary does not provide locations, circumstances or case outcomes for those incidents.

Blaine Police cautions that the monthly figures represent only a selection of the calls for service handled by the department and should not be added together in an attempt to account for all 5,387 calls.

Call data originates with the Anoka County Emergency Communications Center, where incidents receive dispatch classifications. Blaine Police subsequently adjusts the information to consolidate multiple calls connected to the same incident into a single entry for clarity and accuracy. Some incidents can also change classification as officers gather additional information.

For that reason, the monthly report is best understood as a snapshot of police activity rather than a comprehensive crime report or, standing alone, an indication that crime increased or decreased in Blaine during August.
