Jerry Koch | Mayor, Coon Rapids, MN
Among the approved items was the issuance of a gambling premises permit to the Coon Rapids Youth Hockey Association (CRYHA) for activities hosted at Stumpy's Hatchet House, located at 12090 Elm Creek Blvd. The permit allows CRYHA to conduct charitable gambling operations in support of youth athletic programming, a move expected to enhance local funding for hockey development.
The council also granted a one-year extension of the preliminary plat for the Cardinal Crest residential development at 9050 East River Road. This extension allows the developers additional time to meet necessary conditions before final platting, ensuring a smoother path for the future housing project.
In a technological upgrade for municipal legal functions, the council approved a contract with Axon Enterprise, Inc. for its Axon Justice software platform. The cloud-based system will enhance efficiency in handling public safety video evidence and discovery processes, streamlining collaboration between law enforcement and legal teams.
Additionally, the city approved final payment to Minnesota Mechanical Solutions, totaling $77,124.36, for the successful completion of a municipal well rehabilitation project. This work is part of the city's broader infrastructure maintenance efforts to ensure reliable water service to residents.
During the meeting, the council also held a public hearing regarding the vacation of existing drainage and utility easements at 10701 Butternut Street NW. Following community input and staff review, the council adopted Resolution 25-83, officially vacating the outdated easements and recognizing newly dedicated easements better aligned with current property boundaries and utility needs. For more information or to view the full council meeting recording, residents are encouraged to visit the City of Coon Rapids website.
