Man Fatally Shot in South Minneapolis Front Yard

MINNEAPOLIS — A man was found dead in the front yard of a Minneapolis home early Monday following reports of gunfire near Chicago and Franklin avenues.

According to police, the shooting was detected shortly before 1 a.m. through a ShotSpotter activation and confirmed by Metro Transit officers in the area. Responding officers located a man in his 40s on the 1900 block of Elliot Avenue South. Despite emergency aid, he died at the scene. His identity will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

No arrests have been made. Minneapolis police said the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact investigators at policetips@minneapolismn.gov or 612-673-5845.
