MINNEAPOLIS, MN — October 20, 2025 | As communities across continents prepare to log in, the anticipation builds for a deeply resonant event that bridges faith, healing, and the shared pursuit of justice. 

At 11:00 A.M. CST (5:00 P.M. WAT) today, MyVote MyVoice will host its highly anticipated Virtual Roundtable in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Themed “Faith, Healing, and the Power of Community in Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence,” the roundtable convenes an extraordinary coalition of faith leaders, scholars, and advocates who have dedicated their lives to confronting abuse and restoring hope.

At the heart of this transformative dialogue stands Dr. Oliver J. Williams, Emeritus Professor at the University of Minnesota’s School of Social Work. A trailblazer in faith-based approaches to domestic violence prevention, Dr. Williams will deliver the keynote address, drawing on decades of research, mentorship, and community engagement. His message underscores a profound truth — that healing is not only possible, it is collective.

The conversation continues with a panel of distinguished speakers whose work transcends boundaries and denominations:

• Imam Makram El-Amin, Resident Imam of Masjid An-Nur and Executive Director of Al-Maa’uun Community Outreach, brings a faith-centered call to justice rooted in service and community resilience.

• Pastor Meta Herrick Carlson, Pastor and Poet at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Twin Cities, weaves theology and storytelling to nurture spiritual spaces where survivors can find safety and renewal.

• Dr. Beatrice Onoja, Executive Director of Glorious Teens Ministry (GTM), emphasizes the role of youth empowerment and early intervention in ending cycles of domestic violence.

• Dr. Mercy Ebele Eboh, Lecturer in Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Delta State University, Nigeria, highlights how economic independence and education empower survivors to rebuild lives with dignity.
