The Coon Rapids City Council has approved a preliminary 2026 property tax levy of $41,295,381, marking a 7.62% increase over the 2025 levy.
The vote occurred on September 2, 2025, as part of the annual Truth-in-Taxation process.
City officials indicated that the increased levy aims to support rising operating costs, public safety investments, and capital projects, including the planned purchase of a fire ladder truck.
The Truth-in-Taxation process includes a public hearing in early December, with the final levy to be certified to Anoka County and the state by late December.
Residents' individual property tax bills may vary, as total taxes also include levies from Anoka County, local school districts, and other taxing authorities.
