MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Minneapolis Police Seek Wisconsin-Plated Car Connected to Mass Shooting That Wounded Nine
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (September 21, 2026). Minneapolis police have released an image and detailed description of a vehicle investigators believe is connected to the July mass shooting outside the Reign Event Center in Uptown, where nine young adults were wounded.
Police are searching for a black 2016 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 with distinctive wheels, heavily tinted windows and a sunroof. The vehicle displayed Wisconsin blackout license plate ZAC-6116 when it was photographed, according to investigators.
Authorities cautioned members of the public not to approach the car or its occupants. Anyone who sees the vehicle has been asked to call 911.
The request for public assistance marks a significant development in an investigation that has continued for approximately two months without a publicly announced arrest.
Gunfire Outside Crowded Venue
The shooting occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. July 19 outside the Reign Event Center in the 2900 block of Hennepin Avenue.
A large crowd was gathered outside the venue when gunfire erupted. Police officers reached the scene in less than one minute and requested additional assistance because of the crowd and number of injured people.
Four victims were found at the scene. Five others arrived at hospitals separately.
Police initially identified the victims as seven men and two women between the ages of 18 and 27. Two men suffered injuries initially considered life-threatening, although authorities said they were expected to survive.
Investigators described the incident as a shootout but have not publicly identified the people suspected of firing weapons or explained the vehicle’s alleged role.
The department’s latest announcement does not state whether the Infiniti transported a suspected shooter, carried witnesses, appeared in surveillance recordings or was otherwise linked through evidence collected during the investigation.
Police Request Information
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the vehicle to contact police by calling 911, emailing policetips@minneapolismn.gov or leaving a message at 612-673-5845.
Anonymous information may be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at 1-800-222-TIPS.
The department’s decision to release the vehicle image suggests that investigators have reached a point at which public identification may be more valuable than keeping the information confidential.
The Wisconsin plate should not be treated as proof that the vehicle remains in Wisconsin or that its current occupants were involved in the shooting. License plates may be replaced, transferred, stolen or altered, and the car may no longer be in the same condition shown in the police image.
Authorities have asked residents to report information rather than conduct their own searches or confront anyone associated with the vehicle.
The unresolved shooting remains one of the most serious acts of gun violence reported this summer in a Minneapolis entertainment district. Nine people survived, but a crowded public setting and the absence of announced arrests have kept the case a significant public-safety investigation.
