22 Arrested in Blaine Child Solicitation Sting
BLAINE, Minn. — Blaine police announced Friday, September 12, that 22 individuals have been arrested and charged following a two-day child solicitation sting operation earlier this month.
The undercover initiative, referred to by police as a “juvenile suppression operation,” was conducted on September 3 and 4 near Lexington Avenue and Main Street.
Details of the Operation
As part of the sting, Blaine police officers—working with multiple law enforcement partners—posed online as an underage female. Investigators exchanged text messages with more than 460 people during the two-day period. Of those, 22 traveled to a designated meeting location intending to pay for sexual acts with what they believed was a minor. Each was arrested on arrival.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
All 22 suspects have been charged with solicitation of a child to engage in sexual conduct, a felony under Minnesota law. Authorities confirmed that the individuals were booked and later released pending future court appearances.
Law Enforcement Cooperation
The operation was led by the Blaine Police Department in partnership with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force, the Anoka County Attorney’s Office, Anoka County Central Communications, and the police departments of Bloomington, Coon Rapids, and Fridley.
