COON RAPIDS, Minn. — The City of Coon Rapids has announced the date for its next free Secure and Bulk Paper Shredding event, providing Anoka County residents and small businesses with a safe and convenient way to dispose of confidential documents. The event will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Coon Rapids Recycling Center, located at 1827 111th Ave. NW.
The shredding service is free and open to all Anoka County residents and small businesses, with a limit of five boxes of documents per participant. The event uses a cross-cut shredding process that destroys paper into confetti-sized pieces, ensuring secure disposal of sensitive information such as financial statements, medical records, and personal documents.
To ensure a smooth and efficient process, volunteers will unload and process documents on-site. Attendees are asked to load their boxes into the rear of their vehicles and remain inside while staff handle the unloading. Those who wish to observe the shredding process may park off to the side after unloading.
Accepted materials include paper with staples, paper clips, rubber bands, checkbooks, file folders, and envelopes with plastic windows. The city notes that three-ring binders, credit cards, and CDs are not accepted during the bulk shredding event.
In addition to the quarterly bulk shredding events, the Coon Rapids Recycling Center also offers self-service document shredding during regular business hours for smaller amounts (up to one box per visit). Self-service users must remove paper clips and rubber bands before using the equipment.
