COON RAPIDS, Minn. — The Coon Rapids Fire Department is inviting residents to its annual Fire Department Open House on Saturday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to noon at Fire Station #3, located at 3150 111th Avenue NW. The free, family-friendly event offers community members an engaging opportunity to meet local firefighters, explore fire safety practices, and enjoy interactive activities.
The annual open house is a highlight of the fall season for the department, combining education with fun for all ages. Attendees can tour the fire station, explore fire trucks and emergency vehicles—including a helicopter—and learn about the vital work firefighters do to keep the community safe.
Interactive features include the chance to spray a real fire hose, watch live rescue demonstrations, and observe a grease fire demonstration designed to teach safe methods for handling kitchen fires. Guests will also meet popular mascots Sparky the Fire Dog, Freddy the Fire Truck, and a K-9 team, while enjoying refreshments provided by the department.
“The Open House is a great way for families to connect with the people who serve and protect our community,” the department shared in its announcement on the city’s website. “It’s about building trust, teaching safety, and celebrating community together.”
