Coon Rapids Police Department Launches BRIDGE Community Initiative to Strengthen Community Ties

COON RAPIDS, MN — October 11, 2025 — The Coon Rapids Police Department (CRPD) has announced the launch of its new community outreach program, BRIDGE (Building Relationships, Inspiring Dialogue, and Generating Empathy). The initiative is designed to foster stronger, safer, and more connected communities by promoting understanding among residents of all ages, races, ethnicities, cultures, and backgrounds.

The BRIDGE program aims to shape the future of policing in Coon Rapids through meaningful conversations and diverse perspectives, strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and the community. This year, the committee will focus on strategies for connecting with and supporting local youth, promoting stronger relationships and understanding between young residents and police officers.

Program Highlights and Member Engagement

Members of the two-year term committee will gain exclusive access to a variety of engagement opportunities, including:

• Monthly Meetings: Evening sessions from September through May, featuring discussions on relevant community topics.
• Direct Interaction with Officers: Opportunities to engage with CRPD leadership and officers.
• Behind-the-Scenes Tours: Insight into the inner workings of the police department.
• Community Engagement: Participation in impactful local events.
• Ride-Along Opportunities: Observing officers on patrol to understand their daily responsibilities.

Application and Selection Process

Membership in the BRIDGE community is selective. Applicants must have a connection to Coon Rapids, such as residing in the city, working locally, or attending a local school. All participants are required to undergo a background check to maintain the committee’s integrity and trust.

• Background Checks: Conducted in November 2025
