MINNEAPOLIS, MN — October 28, 2025 — In a powerful demonstration of community collaboration and food equity, a coalition of local organizations and farmers is teaming up to host a Free Produce Distribution across two North Minneapolis locations this week and next.

The events will take place on Thursday, October 30, and Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., offering residents access to fresh, locally grown produce — completely free of charge.

Organizers say the effort reflects the culmination of a season of hard work and abundance.

“The farmers have worked HARD all season! Now, there is ABUNDANCE in the system, and we’re excited to ensure it reaches our neighbors,” said a spokesperson for the organizing group. “We are coming together to get that FOOD to the PEOPLE.”

A Community Effort

The Free Produce Distribution is a coordinated initiative of several Twin Cities organizations committed to advancing food justice and community well-being, including Route 1, the Metro Food Justice Network (MFJN), Natural Me, Northside Epicenter, Pillsbury United Communities (PUC), and The People’s Market MN.

The events are supported through generous contributions from Greater Twin Cities United Way, OTCUW, and other local partners dedicated to reducing food insecurity and promoting access to healthy, local foods.

“This initiative is about more than food,” one organizer noted. “It’s about solidarity, sustainability, and making sure that every family in our neighborhoods can share in the harvest.”

A Broader Vision for Food Justice

The partnering organizations represent a network of community advocates and nonprofits working toward a more equitable and sustainable food system in the Twin Cities. By redirecting local agricultural abundance to families in need, they aim to strengthen connections between farmers and residents — and ensure that no harvest goes to waste.
