MINNEAPOLIMEDIA COMMUNITY NEWS | Revive Church and Crossroads Church to Host Free Community Food Distribution in Columbus

COLUMBUS, MN (May 14, 2026) Revive Church and Crossroads Church are hosting a free community food distribution event Thursday, May 14, as part of an ongoing monthly outreach initiative aimed at helping individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship.

The program, known as “The Neighbor’s Table,” will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., or until food supplies are exhausted, at Crossroads Church, located at 17445 Notre Dame St. NE in Columbus.

Organizers describe the effort as a low-barrier community resource designed to ensure that food assistance remains accessible to residents regardless of income level, employment status, or household circumstances.

According to event materials, no identification, proof of residency, or income verification is required to receive groceries during the distribution.

The outreach program is held on the second Thursday of each month and is intended to provide supplemental food support for households facing rising grocery costs, pantry shortages, or temporary financial strain.

Attendees are encouraged to bring boxes, bags, or wagons to transport groceries and food items. Organizers also stated that indoor waiting areas will be available for individuals arriving before the official distribution period begins.

The event is supported through a partnership involving Revive Church, Crossroads Church, and outreach efforts connected to Resting In His Presence Ministries.

According to organizers, the initiative distributes fresh produce, canned goods, pantry staples, and other grocery items to community members each month through a volunteer-led operation involving food preparation, packaging, vehicle loading assistance, and hospitality support.

Faith-based organizations across Minnesota have increasingly expanded emergency food programs and community assistance initiatives as food shelves and hunger relief organizations continue reporting elevated demand tied to inflation, housing costs, and broader economic pressures affecting working families and seniors.

Organizations such as Second Harvest Heartland and regional food shelf networks have reported sustained increases in food assistance requests throughout Minnesota in recent years.

The Neighbor’s Table initiative emphasizes removing administrative and social barriers that can discourage individuals from seeking food assistance. Promotional materials for the event state that the program is open to “anyone who comes.”

The outreach effort is rooted in Christian service and hospitality traditions. Event materials reference Matthew 25:35, a biblical passage stating, “For I was hungry, and you fed me.”

Organizers say the goal of the initiative is to create a welcoming environment where residents can receive practical support while strengthening community connections during periods of economic difficulty.

No advance registration is required for participation. Distribution will continue while supplies last.
