MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Minnesota Farmers’ Market Week Celebrates More Than 400 Markets and 10,000 Vendors

ST. PAUL, MN (August 1, 2026). Minnesota will recognize Farmers’ Market Week from Sunday, Aug. 2, through Saturday, Aug. 8, celebrating the growers, food businesses, market managers and volunteers behind more than 400 farmers’ markets across the state and Tribal Nations.

Gov. Tim Walz proclaimed the observance as Minnesota joins the nationwide celebration of farmers’ markets.

More than 10,000 vendors participate in Minnesota markets, according to the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association.

Nine Markets Hosting Special Events

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is partnering with Minnesota Grown, the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association, Minnesota Farmers Union and the Land Stewardship Project to recognize the week at nine markets:

• Simply Fresh Farmers’ Market in Baudette
• Hibbing Farmers’ Market
• The Kinfolk Market in Ada
• Alexandria Farmers’ Market
• Sauk Rapids Farmers’ Market
• New Ulm Farmers’ Market
• Saint Paul Farmers’ Market
• Riverwalk Market Fair in Northfield
• Rochester Farmers’ Market

The markets represent urban and rural communities across Minnesota.

Supporting Farmers and Food Access

Farmers’ markets allow growers and small food businesses to sell directly to customers, helping more of each purchase remain within the local economy.

Markets can also provide culturally familiar foods and offer smaller or emerging producers a place to build customer relationships without depending entirely on larger retail distribution systems.

Many markets participate in food-access programs that help eligible households purchase fresh produce and other local foods.

North Metro Residents Can Participate Locally

Coon Rapids residents can mark the statewide observance by visiting the community’s weekly farmers market.

The Coon Rapids Farmers Market operates from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays in the parking lot of the Coon Rapids Ice Center, 11000 Crooked Lake Boulevard NW. The Wednesday, Aug. 5 market falls during Farmers’ Market Week.

The Coon Rapids market is a local participation opportunity but is not listed among the nine special events announced by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
