MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Three People Wounded in Two Separate Minneapolis Shootings
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (August 17, 2026) Three people were wounded in two separate shootings across south Minneapolis between Saturday night and early Sunday morning, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.
The first shooting was reported at approximately 9:38 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of East 24th Street and 18th Avenue South.
Police said two women, one in her 20s and another in her 50s, were standing outside when a man fired multiple rounds at them. The assailant reportedly left the area before officers arrived.
Both women were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. Police described their injuries as non-life-threatening.
Approximately seven hours later, at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 3300 block of 38th Avenue South following reports of gunfire and several vehicles leaving a residence.
Investigators found evidence of gunfire inside and outside the house, which police said was being operated as a short-term rental.
A man in his 20s arrived separately at Abbott Northwestern Hospital with gunshot injuries considered potentially life-threatening. He was later transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center for additional treatment.
Police have not announced an arrest in either case. Authorities also have not identified the victims or disclosed any suspected motive.
Nothing released by investigators indicates that the shootings are connected.
The two incidents add to continuing public-safety concerns surrounding gun violence and gatherings held at short-term rental properties. Minneapolis has previously adopted regulations governing such rentals, although police have not released information about the licensing or management of the residence involved in Sunday’s shooting.
Investigations into both shootings remain active. Anyone with information may submit an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers of Minnesota by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting CrimeStoppersMN.org. Tips leading to an arrest and conviction may qualify for a financial reward.
