MINNEAPOLIMEDIA NEWS | Brooklyn Park Police Seek Surveillance Video After Man Is Shot During Vehicle-Tampering Confrontation
Investigators are asking residents to review recordings from October 25 and preceding days for information that could identify two suspects.
BROOKLYN PARK, MN (October 28, 2026). Brooklyn Park police are asking for help identifying two people following a shooting that wounded a man who confronted individuals tampering with his vehicle.
Officers responded to a shooting report at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, October 25, at 6289 Louisiana Avenue North, according to an October 26 department bulletin.
Police said the injured man had transported himself to an area hospital before responding officers reached him. The department described the gunshot wound as non-life-threatening.
Investigators Seek a Broader Video Timeline
The department said detectives have only a limited description of the suspects.
Its request extends beyond recordings of the shooting itself. Investigators want residents in the area to examine surveillance footage from the night of the incident and from preceding days or weeks for activity involving vehicle tampering or theft.
That broader request means recordings that do not capture the confrontation could still be relevant to investigators’ efforts to identify the people involved. The bulletin does not provide a detailed suspect description that residents could independently use to identify someone.
Bring Me The News identified the location as the Highland Gables Apartments and reported that the confrontation occurred in the parking garage. The publication also reported that an officer later located the injured driver in Robbinsdale.
Its account said other vehicles in the garage may have been tampered with. That possibility remains part of the reported investigative circumstances, rather than a finding that every vehicle incident involved the same people.
How to Provide Information
Anyone with relevant information or recordings should call the Brooklyn Park Police Department at 763-493-8222.
The October 26 bulletin did not identify the injured man or announce arrests. It also did not provide a public upload link for recordings. Residents can use the department’s telephone number to obtain instructions for submitting material.
Bring Me The News reported that police strongly discourage confronting people breaking into vehicles because they may be armed.
People needing the city’s information in another language or format, or disability accommodations, can contact access@brooklynpark.org or 763-424-8000. The official police bulletin is available here.
