Minnesota Has Already Launched Its Legal Marijuana Website. Here's What's On It.

Well, that was quick.

Not even two days after the state Senate approved SF 73 — positioning Minnesota to become the 23rd legal-week state in the nation — the state has launched its Office of Cannabis Management website.

The agency, whose creation was included in the newly approved bill, will regulate Minnesota's cannabis market as well as the expungement of thousands of low-level marijuana convictions.

But for now, its presence is limited to this as-yet simple website, which is currently only informational. Here's what you can find on it:

  • Possession limits for adults ages 21 and up
  • Changes medical marijuana patients can expect under the new law
  • Licensing information (and related fees) for those interested in starting cannabis businesses
  • Basic information about the upcoming Cannabis Expungement Board
  • General information about the legislation, and how the new law will be administered

The site also makes clear that, starting August 1, adults 21 and up can "possess and use certain amounts of cannabis and cannabis products."

That's also the starting date for those who want to grow their own plants at home; up to eight plants will be allowed, "with no more than four being mature." Adults will also be allowed to possess up to two pounds of cannabis flower in their home starting in August.

Additionally, the website states that medical marijuana sales will not be taxed, though anyone buying recreational cannabis products can expect a 10% sales tax, along with state and local sales taxes.

You can check out the website right here.

Governor Tim Walz (D) has signaled that he will sign the cannabis legislation into law.
