Blaine, MN – Metro Transit has officially expanded its Metro micro service to the Blaine zone, offering residents a convenient, on-demand, shared-ride transit option. The service, which utilizes ADA-accessible minibuses, is designed to connect riders to shopping, medical appointments, entertainment, and other community destinations, while also linking to existing transit routes.
The Blaine micro service operates within a defined zone, roughly bordered by:
All rides must begin and end within this service area.
Riders can book trips using the Metro micro app or by calling 651‑602‑1170. The service provides door-to-door pick-up and drop-off, allowing passengers to be picked up at their homes and dropped off at any chosen destination within the zone, including bus stops or METRO stations. Because it is a shared-ride service, other passengers may be picked up or dropped off during a trip.
Fares are aligned with regular Metro Transit bus rates:
Transfers to local bus and METRO lines are free for 2½ hours. Payment can be made via cash, a Go-To Card (including passes), or the Metro Transit app.
Metro micro allows riders to connect with Metro Transit routes 10, 25, 804, and 852, extending travel options beyond the micro service zone.
The minibuses are fully ADA accessible, equipped with wheelchair lifts and bike racks. Riders traveling with children under four years old or weighing 40 pounds or less must provide their own car seat.
The Blaine service is part of Metro Transit’s broader Metro micro initiative, which aims to provide flexible, on-demand public transit in targeted areas to improve access to existing transit networks, community resources, and daily destinations.
Residents interested in using the service can learn more and download the app at metrotransit.org/micro-blaine or call 651‑602‑1170 for assistance.
