In a first for Anoka, local business owners and community leaders got together to hold the city’s first Pride Month event. Held on June 8 in the First Congregational Church parking lot in downtown Anoka, Anoka Pride Day came to fruition with the help of people like Amber Bullock, owner of Metta Coffee on Main Street.
“This is the right place,” Bullock said. “We’re in the county seat, in one of the more diverse areas of the county, where the courthouse is across the street from us. A lot of businesses are women- and queer-owned. We’re working really hard at being a welcoming space in downtown Anoka.”
