Anoka County Sheriff’s Office to Host Community Open House Sept. 23
ANDOVER, Minn. — The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual Community Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at its headquarters, 13301 Hanson Blvd. NW in Andover. The free event gives residents of all ages the chance to meet deputies, explore public safety tools, and learn more about the diverse services that keep the county safe.
Interactive Activities and Displays
Visitors will find a wide range of hands-on activities and demonstrations, including:
Meet the Units: Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team, Marine Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Jail, and the Midwest Regional Forensic Lab will be on hand to explain their roles.
K-9 Demonstrations: The Sheriff’s K-9 Unit will showcase the skills of its working dogs in live demonstrations.
Public Safety Vehicles: Residents can see and step inside emergency vehicles such as squad cars, fire trucks, and helicopters.
911 Dispatch Center Tours: The county’s new Emergency Communications Center will be open for tours from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The facility manages all 911 calls for law enforcement, fire, and EMS across Anoka County.
Community Partners: Several local organizations will join the event to share resources and highlight collaborative public safety efforts.
Food Trucks: Local food vendors will offer refreshments for purchase.
Strengthening Community Connections
Sheriff Brad Wise, who has led the Sheriff’s Office since January 2023, emphasized that the open house is about transparency and building trust. “This event gives our community a firsthand look at the resources and people working every day to protect them,” he said in the county’s event notice.
The open house also highlights Anoka County’s investment in modern public safety infrastructure. The new Emergency Communications Center—equipped with advanced dispatch technology and designed to support dozens of operators—underscores the county’s commitment to reliable, countywide emergency response.
