Anoka County Sheriff's Office Launches Webpage for Cold Cases on Anniversary of Mort Siwe's Unsolved Homicide

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has officially unveiled a new webpage dedicated to casting light on unresolved cold case homicides, a resource made possible through a Department of Justice grant.

A primary goal of the site is to reach out to individuals who might hold key details on these cases, urging them to step forward.

Today marks the grim anniversary of Mort Siwe's unsolved homicide.

According to Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Siwe, who was just 20 years old, was found dead from blunt head trauma on October 17, 2020, in the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area.

Despite numerous leads, justice remains elusive, with no one charged in connection to his death.

The Sheriff's Office is appealing to the public: if you have any knowledge to share, they implore you to reach out to ACSOColdCases@anokacountymn.gov.

The Cold Case Homicide Unit of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office has committed to methodically reviewing all violent crime cold cases.

They aim to develop comprehensive investigation procedures to aid them in their quest for justice and closure for victims' families.

A meticulously assembled team of law enforcement and forensic experts work together to assess and prioritize unsolved cases, leveraging advancements in forensic science to test—and sometimes retest—evidence in the hope of furthering stagnant investigations.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone who might, even now, remember a crucial detail, a previously overlooked conversation, or a piece of evidence previously deemed inconsequential, to come forward. Such tips can sometimes be the missing piece needed to finally piece together to solve the puzzle of these haunting unsolved crimes.
