St. Louis Park Offers Free Christmas Tree Collection
As the holiday season winds down and the festive decorations start to be discarded, St. Louis Park residents have a green way to say farewell to their Christmas trees. The city offers free Christmas tree collection services from Monday through January 24.
The city requires that trees be cut down to 6 feet or smaller for collection. According to a social media post from the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, residents with city solid waste services may set their live (cut) trees out at the normal setout location from Monday – 24, coinciding with their regular collection day. It’s a convenient way to ensure that the trees are disposed of properly and in a manner that’s eco-conscious.
But the city hasn't forgotten about residents in multifamily buildings, such as apartments and condos, who might not have access to the curbside option. These residents can drop off their trees on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the city’s brush drop-off site, located at 6215 Cedar Lake Road. It’s a single-day event designed to make disposal easy for all.
For those setting their trees out for collection or preparing them for drop-off, remember to remove all decorations. And if you're using a bag to prevent those pesky needles from spreading all over your home, be sure to remove it as well and toss it in the trash before setting the tree out. Interestingly, the city points out that wreaths and garlands are a different story - since they often contain wire, they must be placed in the trash.
Questions about the tree disposal process can be directed to the public works department by calling 952.924.2562 or emailing operations@stlouisparkmn.gov.
