A busy day for road construction with several projects starting Monday morning that could last the entire construction season this year.
MINNEAPOLIS — Construction season is officially underway, with several projects across the Twin Cities starting Monday, March 31.
In Minneapolis, phase two of the Hennepin Avenue project is underway, including work from 26th Street to Douglas Avenue. The project will come with road closures that will impact drivers in the area.
Also in Minneapolis, construction is now underway on Interstate 94 between Huron Boulevard and 35W. City officials say the work will include improvements to five bridges on I-94.
Drivers can check 511 for detours and other routes.
Outside of Minneapolis, a major construction project also started Monday morning in Coon Rapids. MnDOT crews are adding a third lane to Highway 10 in both directions to improve traffic flow in the area.
Officials with MnDOT say no roads will be closed completely during the construction project, but drivers will experience several lane and ramp closures throughout the season.
In Saint Louis Park, construction crews also started working on Minnetonka Boulevard between Inglewood Avenue and Highway 100. The road was closed on Monday morning and county officials say the road will remain closed throughout the entire construction season.
County officials say only residents and businesses on Minnetonka Boulevard with no side street access will be able to access Minnetonka Boulevard during construction.
