Community members keen on following the development plans for various gateways in the city have something to look forward to, as the final draft of the Arrive + Thrive gateway plans has been completed. The detailed project proposals, including the framework and specific plans for Beltline, Wooddale, Louisiana, and West Excelsior gateways, as well as a comprehensive impact analysis and implementation strategy, are now available for public review, although be warned, due to the file sizes, downloading might require some patience.

The city council took a deep dive into the draft plan at a special study session back on October 21, 2024, since then the feedback from that meeting has been meticulously worked through, culminating in the finalized draft. According to a recent release, the planning commission gave its nod of acceptance to the gateway plans on June 18, 2025, marking a pivotal step in turning these blueprints into tangible changes in the community.
There's a buzz of anticipation as locals await the city council’s formal acceptance of the plan, expected to occur later this summer; this act will essentially set the wheels in motion for the physical manifestation of the gateway alterations and enhancements. Following what has been a deliberative process to incorporate council and community input, residents and stakeholders now have an opportunity to witness governance in action.
Looking ahead, the city is putting in place mechanisms that will enable stakeholders to track progress on the project with the launch of an online interactive implementation tracker in the fall of 2025. When the tracker goes live, those interested will be able to access it through a link on the project website, and notifications will also be sent out to those who are signed up on the update list, ensuring that everyone who has an interest in the project can stay informed about its development from groundbreaking to ribbon-cutting.
