MONTICELLO TEEN, KNOWN FOR EXPLORING ABANDONED SITES, REPORTED MISSING

Authorities classify 16-year-old Evan Peters as an "endangered missing person"

MONTICELLO, MN — July 31, 2025 — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has issued a public alert in the ongoing search for a Monticello teenager last seen over a month ago. Sixteen-year-old Evan Peters, described by officials as an “urban explorer,” has been missing since June 27 and is now considered an endangered missing person.

According to the Wright County Sheriff's Office, Peters had maintained periodic contact with his family after leaving home in late June. However, communication abruptly stopped in recent days, raising serious concerns for his safety and wellbeing.

Authorities believe Peters may still be in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, where he is known to explore abandoned properties, underground tunnels, and other secluded or potentially hazardous locations. His interest in so-called “urban exploration” has led investigators to focus on sites that fit that description across the region.

Peters is described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Distinguishing features include tattoos on both hands and a radioactive symbol tattooed on his right shoulder.

Officials urge anyone who may have seen Evan Peters or has information on his whereabouts to immediately contact the Wright County Sheriff’s Office at (763) 682-7600 or call 911.

The BCA continues to work closely with local law enforcement agencies and Peters’ family in the search effort.

Public assistance is critical in cases involving endangered youth. Even seemingly minor tips can help bring a missing person home safely.
