The Coon Creek Watershed District (CCWD) is inviting local educators, nonprofits, civic groups, and businesses to apply for Water Education Grants designed to promote awareness and stewardship of water resources. The program supports projects that align with CCWD’s mission of protecting and preserving surface and groundwater within the district’s boundaries.
The grants aim to increase public awareness and promote hands-on understanding of water conservation, stormwater management, and overall water quality. By encouraging both classroom and community-based projects, CCWD hopes to foster stronger connections between residents and their local water systems.
Applicants can propose a variety of activities, such as:
Project WET — short for Water Education Today — is an internationally recognized program that provides science-based water education resources for teachers and community leaders. Its curriculum guide features more than 90 interactive activities that integrate science, social studies, math, and environmental studies. The program’s goal is to help learners of all ages understand the science of water, its role in ecosystems and communities, and the importance of responsible water management.
Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis until available funds are distributed. Interested applicants should visit the CCWD website for complete program details, guidance, and application forms. For additional questions, the district encourages contacting its Engagement Coordinator at info@cooncreek.org or (763) 755-0975.
With these grants, the Coon Creek Watershed District is strengthening its commitment to both environmental protection and public education — ensuring that future generations understand the critical importance of clean, sustainable water resources.
