Anoka County officials have announced that all License & Passport Services offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, and Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025.

This two-day closure aligns with the county’s standard holiday schedule, as the Friday after Thanksgiving is recognized as an official county holiday. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for any services they may need during this period.

Services Affected

Anoka County License & Passport Services provides a wide range of essential governmental services at multiple locations across the county. The closure will temporarily suspend access to the following services:

  • Driver’s License & ID Services: Renewals, replacements, address or name changes, first-time licenses, and instruction permits.
  • Motor Vehicle Services: Vehicle registration, title transfers (Minnesota and out-of-state), duplicate registration or license plates, and specialized license plates.
  • Passport Services: Acceptance of U.S. passport applications (DS-11) and passport photo services. The Coon Rapids Passport Center is the county’s primary facility for passport applications.
  • DNR Registration: Registration and titles for recreational vehicles such as watercraft, snowmobiles, ATVs, ORVs, and OHMs.
  • Other Services: Hunting and fishing licenses, and public notary services.

Business Hours

Outside of holidays, Anoka County License & Passport Centers generally operate on the following schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (extended hours)
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Residents seeking services before the holiday are encouraged to take advantage of Tuesday’s extended hours for additional flexibility.

Planning Ahead

For passport services, residents should be mindful of federal processing timelines set by the U.S. Department of State. Routine passport processing generally takes 4–6 weeks, while expedited processing is typically 2–3 weeks (plus an additional $60 fee), not including mailing times. Travelers with upcoming international trips are advised to schedule appointments well in advance.
